Hey Tom this is Pam in Barnstable. The three of you stayed at my Airbnb a couple of years ago and I wanted to offer the apartment to you until your power comes back on. We never lost our power and the internet came back on yesterday morning. Please let me know if you would like to come and get warm. Pam

I don’t know how else to get hold of you so thought I would try through Substack

How lovely of you to offer, Pam. Thank you for your kindness! Our power returned last night!

I was wondering how you were faring this week. Frozen pipes are no fun, especially if you also have no power

OMG it’s a winter wonderland! Hope the situation improves as it’s wreaking such havoc despite its extraordinary beauty!

I was wondering how your pack was doing this past week. Having lived in North Dakota for a few decades, I remember well these early spring blizzards and the heavy wet snow. Am looking forward to the wonderful pictures you will get with beautiful blue skies contrasting with the white snow banks. Alas, here in the Black Hills of South Dakota we are pretty dry, hasn't been this dry since the 80's. Seems like every week the fire departments are called out to grass fires someplace. Haven't even pulled out my snow shoes at all this year. Good luck with getting power back soon.

Be warm and safe. Enjoy the silence and the solitude. In contrast, friends are sheltering in place in Mexico.

Here in Durango we could use some moisture and cooler weather. Today I saw crocus blooming by the library. The West is too dry for this time of the year and there is an ominous threat of catastrophic wildfires looming as the starwheel turns towards the winds of springtime and the scorching months of summer.

My friend in sandwich got power back this afternoon, they had said 3 to 5 days

Good luck in the cold weather. I am glad I don't have to deal with it out west. Is there a way to have a fireplace where you are?

I'm sorry to hear about your power outage. I pray it gets restored soon. I got stuck in Yellowstone National Park of all places. I was due to fly home yesterday, but now it will be tomorrow. I had a special peaceful time with 2 bison while skiing to Tower Falls. It was just them and me with no one else around for miles. I know you're supposed to keep your distance, but the road is only 12' wide so I was closer than I should have been.

I hope you 3 stay warm despite the outage.

Tom, this storm reminds me of one that happened in February of 1969 when my wife and I lived at West Point, NY. The big difference was that we had little warning in those days before today’s network of weather satellites. We just woke up on a Sunday morning to the heaviest snowstorm that I had ever seen. The unofficial total was 23 inches that day in our part of the Hudson Valley. One of the more notable casualties of the storm was NYC Mayor John Lindsay. He was an up and coming politician who began a downward slide after the city was paralyzed by the storm. Our miniature schnauzer didn’t adapt as well as your pups.

I hope my alerts about warming stations aren’t considered advice ❤️

Thanks for checking in. You're certainly making the best of the situation. Glad you've got provisions to last for a while and are taking care of yourself. Here in the PNW it's the usual rain.

Grateful to hear the 3 of you are doing well. You are a remarkable man, Tom & make the best of all situations:) We do hope your electric & heat return soon. Not a flake fell in Center Conway! Tonight is very windy, but the snow is still shiny & bright.
