Oh, dear, the heat is upon us again. The dog days of summer usually come between July 3 and August 11, the period following the heliacal rising of the star system Sirius, which is connected with heat and drought and violent thunderstorms.
We’ve had an unusual share nasty weather since we’ve been home, but it’s nothing compared to what our friends in the Pacific Northwest are suffering through. At least here, we all have air conditioning. Most folks out in Washington and Oregon don’t. I cannot imagine how they are dealing with 110-degree temperatures.
I worry about my friends, and I worry about flora and fauna. Climate change is getting worse by the year. Yesterday, I read about how rattlesnakes are making their way into cities and towns more often due to the lack of water in the wild. One woman had three removed from her California yard where she’d never had any in the past.
Meanwhile, wildfires are raging all over the country, but mostly out west. Even lush Main…
