The first time meeting Joshua trees in the spring of 2019.

While each of our three cross-country coddiwomples has been distinctive, a significant common thread remains the time spent in California. It’s a vast but varied state, and it was impossible to live the experiences this past spring while also writing about them. Too much fell through the cracks. Not only did life come at us at breakneck speed during our month there, but it also became emotional, as you will see in these posts. By the time we left and headed north to Oregon, I was physically tired and emotionally drained.

I’ve decided to recount those days there with a series of posts called the California Chronicles.

But first, a recap.

Before reaching California, we departed from our New Hampshire home on December 8. Why then? That date was determined by heartache, a sense of longing and loss. A California stop will explain it all in a future post.
