Our Heavenly Swimming Hole

We are home and comfortable inside today and even went so far as to skip our long morning walk. Samwise was not having it, for it is not a fit morning for man or beast to pant away in the stifling hills.

This was a first for Sam. He’s refused to venture out in the rain often, but he’s never turned his back on the heat. We managed a short half-mile trek but quickly retreated inside, where the air is almost chilly. Samwise can sleep away the dreadful weather like I used to nap past my hangovers.

Early Sunday, the air was slightly better, and we trekked the two miles to our swimming hole. It is as enchanting and secluded as ever. I’m grateful for this because so many of our hidden spots are no longer secrets. It’s why I continue to scour rentals in rural Vermont.
