
The woodland realm always enchants—only more so in October. I am drawn to these colors and textures, the dark wet tree bark after a day of rain, and moisture returned to fallen leaves. We’ve arrived early to that period where the understory is more colorful than the overstory.
This is Samwise’s month, certainly. He blends in naturally, as you can see. (Look close!) I often lose track of him on autumn days, even when he is just feet off the trail.
