We are having one of those dreadful days where the air is thick, while the humidity and the dew point are uncomfortably high. Dark clouds hang low, and they feel like they aim to smother. We’re sitting this afternoon out, and it may not be the last day we stay in this week.
High summer is upon us, and neither Samwise nor I am fans. He pants heavily with the least bit of activity, and I find myself searching for breath. I’d never been partial to this type of weather, but since my lung trouble, it is more noticeable. This morning, we cut our five-mile walk short and settled for only two miles. We’d only walked a hundred yards before Sam and I slowed our pace.
Since then the air conditioner has been purring away, and Emily and Samwise are napping near me now.
This is our July equivalent of a January snow day. We understand it is no fun outside, so we cozy up as much as the season lets us.
