I’m not sure this place has a name, but I refer to it as Ghost Canyon, which is more than fitting. It’s one of my favorite places to explore with Samwise and Emily. For the record, they handle the high, narrow trails with more poise than me. At one precarious perch, my vertigo kicked in, my stomach lurched, and I had to sit down for fear of falling.
The white stone is eerie, especially in the morning shade where there is a cold, blue tone. The toadstools appear like corpses in a crypt, an ancient burial ground recently uncovered. I told a friend the other day this feels like visiting Death. We plan on a return trip tomorrow night under the full moon. That could be downright frightening—even to me.
