Emily’s Rehab Takes a Step Back

This afternoon, we made a decision to restart Emily’s rehab at the beginning. It’s been eleven weeks since she had cruciate surgery on her right knee, and it’s clear she’s not responding as we would have hoped.
There have been good days and some bad, but lately, she’s been limping and favoring her leg.
We’ve taken it slow and easy from the start, and followed the protocols. Alas, some of us respond differently to major injuries.
Our friends Jill, Jeremy, and Jasmine went through the same surgery on both of their Iona’s knees and she was a textbook recovery in both instances. She is as good as new and back to running with Jeremy these days.
Emily seemed to be on the same flawless recovery pattern until about two and a half weeks ago. I cut back on her walks, both the distance and the frequency. It helped, at first. But these last two days it was clear something is amiss.
