Anyone else feeling exhausted? Like the last four days have been as draining as the past four years? By now do you consider Steve Kornacki a close friend?
Poor Samwise and Emily. Although I left my newspapering and political days behind in Newburyport long ago, my old addiction has reared up and grabbed hold.
I was awake to watch Georgia flip from Biden to Trump just after three this morning, when the late John Lewis’s district’s mail in ballots were reported. And still glued to the phone when the lead changed in Pennsylvania hours later.
I am fascinated by elections, especially the big one that comes around every four years. More so than the candidates, I read what the vote has to say about the country we live in. There are endless stories. Some are inspirational, others saddening. There is grace and courage, and there is ugliness. I root for the moments of grace, when ego takes a back seat to what is right and what is good.
