Two months ago, some Jackson friends told me of their plans to drive west in the autumn. They're traveling with dogs and asked me for suggestions in the Dakotas, Wyoming, and Montana. Along with tips, I lent them a can of bear spray for grizzly country.
Last week, they canceled their adventure.
"It's not a good time with the Delta variant and the smoke from the wildfires," one of them explained.
When we travel, it's too early for the western wildfires, thankfully. But goodness knows, I've been watching Covid cases, hospitalizations, and deaths closely. It has changed our upcoming Vagabondage.
