Countdown: 3 Days

It snowed overnight, then turned to rain, and now the sun is wrestling with the clouds to make an appearance. It will be warm here today, and while there may be some snow this weekend, chances of a White Christmas are looking bleak. And that's just the Jackson forecast. On Cape Cod, we'll be lucky to see any snow in the month we're there. At least we got to see some before heading out. 

Our countdown is on. Over the next three days, there are countless small things to tidy up while I batten down the hatches preparing for five months away from the hobbit hole. Seems strange to say it out loud. Five months! Just four years ago, I'd never taken a proper road trip. The closest we came was book tours through the Northeast. Now, we're preparing for the gypsy life of three vagabonds into the mysteries and unknowns of the open road. 

I find comfort in sticking around New England for the holidays. I can't imagine not being here for Christmas, even though we spend ours happily and peacefully alon…
