It’s going to be a different Christmas season for us as we kick off our coddiwomple in this most unusual year. It will feel strange not being in the mountains for an entire winter. I’ll surely miss the coziness of our kitchen, and the comfortable nooks of our hobbit hole. Yet the pull of the road entices me, even during a pandemic.
The horrific rise in Covid cases is precisely what the experts feared, unfortunately. Colder weather translates to more indoor gatherings—hence the spread. While it has changed our plans, in other ways it has enhanced them.
We depart on December 8, and will deposit ourselves in a charming seaside village for seven weeks. We’ll have access to leash-free beaches and miles of woodland trails that even include some hills. We may even get lucky and still have a white Christmas. (A guy can dream, can’t he?)
