It took three weeks, but we finally had the kind of Cape Cod day I hoped for when this trip was planned. Not only was it a rare morning of brilliant blue skies, but for the first time in nearly two months, there was no pain when we logged three miles on the beach.
My foot and ankle are not back to normal, but it’s a world of difference compared to a few days ago when I needed crutches to get around the house. Ever so slowly, I am learning how to live with severe gout. If anything good came from being laid up for so long, it was the time and opportunity to research my new nemesis, understand uric acid, and devise a plan.
Hope comes with faith in what is possible. That’s what I’m currently infused with. It will be a long road, but I’m a dreamer.
