I do so love a travel day when the landscape drastically changes. We began Tuesday at the beach in Morro Bay, drove through one of the prettiest winding roads I’ve ever taken, passed through Paso Robles wine country, and the corner where James Dean died in his car crash. We stopped in Fresno, a busy and sprawling place, to change Clarence’s oil. Then we entered the hills with views of the distant snow-capped peaks of the sierras.
