The good news is that Samwise is feeling better. A combination of meds, massage, and range of motion exercises had him moving with ease, and without a hint of a limp, within 36 hours. The bad news: we are currently housebound because suddenly and out of the blue, my left leg, the same Samwise injured, has locked up.
I spent three of my four years in high school on crutches. Growth plate problems led to two surgeries, five full-length leg casts, and numerous immobilizers. At one point, the doctor figured I’d be limited for the rest of my life. At the University of Kentucky, I suffered foot drop and went through two fascia release surgeries, one of which freed up the peroneal nerve.
This was all on my left leg. My right leg has never had an issue.
I've never experienced anything like this with my knee before. Other than occasional tendon troubles, my legs have been problem-free for decades. I cannot tell you what led to this discomfort. It's a true mystery.
