I apologize for being MIA as of late. August threw me a curveball. Usually, winter stretches into mud season, which is followed by bug season. Then comes the heat and humidity of July. August is when we begin the delicious slide toward autumn with cool nights and comfortable days. Alas, this summer has been a different beast. We've had one of the hottest Augusts on record, but also one of the wettest. This makes for high humidity. As buoyant as I am in cool and cold temperatures, one of the side effects of the various ailments I survived is a low tolerance for this combination.
Confession: I've felt worse these past four weeks than I have in a few years.
Five years ago, when forced into a prediction, a doctor told me I had five to ten years left, "If I have to say."
He went on to explain that my body went through the equivalent of a house fire. "Unlike a house, though, we can't go inside and replace all your plumbing and wiring," he added.
